“The Beauty of Nature” will Raise Money for "The Healing Gardens

I require goals to keep me moving forward. As an artist, that means I need to do more than “just paint”. I need to either take on a challenge, such as the 100 Days of Art project I mentioned a while back, take a class, or work on pieces to be exhibited in a future show. When we began discussing my wish to plan a new show, I thought it would be great to add the twist of raising funds for a good cause. My friend Lois suggested The Healing Gardens at the Cone Health Cancer Center as a worthy cause, and I fully agreed. As a cancer survivor myself, I well know the hurdles faced by those the project serves. And this glorious garden has given me enormous comfort over the years. Thank you Lois for such a fine idea.

One day I might tell you more about the roller coaster of emotions I personally face when I start on such a challenge. Suffice it to say there are some scary points in which I’m quite certain I will never finish the number of paintings needed to pull off such a feats. Since I’m surrounded by a tribe of encouraging folks, and I’m known to be tenacious (some call it “stubborn” but whatever,) of course I’ll hit my goal.

The exhibit features many of my own paintings as well as the abstract paintings of my friend Vicki Johnson and the sculptures of Howard Bemus.

“The Beauty of Nature” will be on exhibit at Gallery 1250 at Revolution Mill in Greensboro, from April 4 until May 16. Our opening reception is April 5 from 5-7. See Facebook event details here.
