Coming for Me
I went sailing for the first time a few years ago and it was the most peaceful afternoon I had experienced in a while. That peace was delivered through the view of a gorgeous sky, the sound of the water lapping the side of the boat, the feel of the warm sun on my face. I just wanted to recreate a painting of that day, so I painted this - atypically - from memory. Each time I look at this painting and see the single sailboat underneath that rich blue expanse with the huge poofy cloud, the deeper blue of the lapping water, the distant shoreline that splits above and below, and the waving grasses, I am again transported to the joy of that day on the Neuse River in Oriental, North Carolina.
The painting is in a frame and ready to hang.
