A Cold Tongue Blue
This painting's title was taken from words in Betty Adcock’s poem "Topsail Island". It’s January and cold and the sky was “a cold tongue blue”. As many times as I've vacationed at this very North Carolina beach, I have never been to the shore in January. But I can imagine that this is an accurate scene along with cold blue/green water with the white breaking waves in the winter.
