Flying Solo - Sold

$0.00

This painting was created using the scene in a photo my brother-in-law captured in Wilmington, North Carolina. It not only includes a vivid sunrise sky but also a flying seagull. He waited to capture that bird, and once he'd succeeded with a perfect representation of just the view he'd wanted to save, sent it to me for a possible painting. I agreed that his picture would be an ideal subject for my brush to render. At that time, I was involved in a daily art painting project, making only small pieces. The paintings were all either 5 x 7 or 6 x 8.  I used palette knives for that series and got a lot of great feedback on this one. Look at that sky! The richness of the bright orange and the accompanying purple of the dark clouds are the perfect contrast to the purest blue of that water below.

Size (h w d): 5 x 7 in
Medium: Oil
Subject Matter: Waterscape
