Fresh Approach
Here is an abstract painting depicting flowers in a glass vase using my favorite colors. One friend said that “It’s like an explosion of color!” and I liked that. Though I started with a photo of actual beautiful flowers as an inspiration, it was much less important to me to render precise kinds of blooms. Instead, I wanted to create the feeling that actual bouquet had left me with. Adding loose shapes, layering different shades of pink, from dark to light, some red, peach and white, allowed me to achieve what I was going for. The muted tabletop and background are intentionally obscured in the grays, browns and greens, to really make that floral bouquet pop. It feels so satisfying to know you've achieved your goal when working on a new painting and this one left me especially satisfied.
