Heeling Wind
“Heeling”. It’s the term that describes the tilt of a sailboat in strong winds. Often we see all of the crew hanging on one side of the boat (“on the high edge”,) especially in a race. They’re trying their best to counter the wind’s force and stay upright. That’s what I’m depicting in this fun painting called “Heeling Wind”. I love watching boat races and loved the challenge of conveying all that energy in oil. The richness of all those colors in the amazing sky of blue, yellow and orange, and those same vivid colors reflected in the water made the results really pop.
