A Windfall of Gulls & Crackles
This is another one of the paintings from the series that used Betty Adcock’s wonderful poem "Topsail Island" for inspiration. It was the reflections in the early morning of the sun on the backwash of the shore that intrigued me. What rich colors: oranges, blues & yellows make the background on which the dark bird pops so boldly. I see only a few of these black birds on Topsail Island, North Carolina, but I do love to hear their call early in the mornings when I am vacationing there.
Size (w & h ): 11 x 14 in
Medium: Oil
