Flightfeathers
This painting was part of a series I painted based on the poem “Topsail Island” by Betty Adcock. In this painting I captured three seashore birds. One of them is preening itself casually in the background, as the other two look ahead, their bright orange beaks visible, popping against the rich blue water and warm sandy shore. Haven’t we all seen these little guys while walking on the beach? It's so gratifying to be able to capture in oils scenes that many of us have observed in nature so many times before.
