Love Affair
When I was fourteen, I saw the ocean for the first time. I was captivated by the vastness of the seaside, and the way I felt watching and hearing the rhythms of those crashing waves. My time there became a love affair that is still going on to this day, and will until I die. This painting shows my memory of what I saw that very first day we arrived at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Each time I return to any beach, I reaffirm my affair with the continually-moving water, the sand, and the puffy clouds.
