Watching
This painting shows a protective red hen caring for her white chicks. If you reach out to pick one of them up, she is ready for you. I photographed this scene at a lovely sheep farm outside Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I not only love the subject matter and the unique birds and the body language of each one, but the colors of the scene feel very pleasing to me too. It was fun to capture what I saw with my paints on canvas: dappled golden light on the deep green, the brick red and cream, pinks and browns... painting for me is as much about blending colors as it is depicting a scene.
Size : (h & w) 12 x 12 in
Medium: Oil On Canvas
